About the Counsellor:
Mary Luskey (she/her) is a Registered Psychotherapist-Qualifying, Licensed Counselling Therapist-Candidate and Registered Social Worker with four years of experience in psychotherapy and fourteen years experience in social work. Known for being approachable, compassionate, and empathetic, Mary endeavours to assist her clients in finding their way back when life or circumstance has taken them off course. She offers support and safety so that healing can be fostered.
Philosophy:
Mary’s approach to counselling is rooted in grace and a genuine willingness to journey alongside individuals through their experiences. She was drawn to this field because she believes everyone deserves to feel well, and to feel whole.
Therapeutic Approach:
Mary draws on theoretical, practical, and lived experience to help her clients navigate their way toward better mental health in a way that fits with their values and cultural identity. She uses a trauma- informed approach, with the intention of creating a supportive space where clients feel safe sharing their challenges. Mary incorporates evidence-based techniques from cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT), solution-focused therapy (SFT), mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR), trauma-informed therapy, cognitive processing therapy (CPT), and dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT) into her therapeutic approach.
