About the Counsellor:

Kayla Rivera (she/her) is a Registered Psychotherapist and Certified Music Therapist with over six years of experience in mental health. Known for her empathy, cultural competence, and active listening, Kayla is passionate about creating a safe, supportive space where clients feel heard and valued. She holds a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University and an Honours Bachelor of Music Therapy from Wilfrid Laurier University.

Philosophy:

Kayla believes in creating a space for clients to explore emotions, uncover strengths, and heal authentically. She values each client’s uniqueness and takes a personalized approach to therapy, offering compassion, acceptance, and empowerment. Her goal is to help clients build resilience, rediscover their inner strength, and create meaningful change.

Kayla’s approach is holistic, culturally sensitive, and trauma-informed. She incorporates Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), Mindfulness-Based Therapy, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), and Music Therapy.
