About the Counsellor:

Sander Vink (he/him/his) is a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with experience in hospital, palliative care and individual mental health settings. He believes therapy starts with the creation of a safe space that can be a stepping stone for change to work on anxiety, depression, men's mental health, substance use, life transitions, grief and loss.

Philosophy:

Sander was born in Europe, lived in East-Asia for years and finally settled in Toronto some twenty odd years ago. He integrates Western evidence-based psychotherapy with an interest in East Asian inspired existential philosophy and mindfulness approaches.

Therapeutic Approach:

Sander starts from a Person-Centred approach and uses evidence-based techniques as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Compassion Focused Therapy. These techniques combine acceptance of the past with mindfulness to ground us in the present and a strengths or virtue guided focus towards a makeable future. Sander does not work with one-for-all approaches and collaborates with his clients to explore individualized outcomes.
